'There is no feud': Gold Coast Titans coach denies Hayne fallout

Neil Henry says there is no feud with Jarryd Hayne, amid speculation one or both will leave the club.

Gold Coast Titans coach Neil Henry wants to remain at the club beyond this season, denying there is a feud with star full-back Jarryd Hayne.

Titans board members and the chief executive met with Henry and Hayne for a three-hour crisis meeting on Monday, and an outcome has not been publicly reported.

"I'm contracted here next year and I'd like to stay here a long time," Henry said.

"I think we've done some good things in a club that's had a fair bit of turmoil in the last three years."

Some media reports claim the club has already decided to sack Henry.

"There's speculation so we'll find out in due course whether or not that's true," Henry said.

"But I've got a job to do to prepare this team for Thursday night."

The crisis meeting came after Hayne declared he would leave the club if the coach wanted him gone, despite signing a $1.2 million contract to play in 2018.

Feud a media beat-up, but no comment on ultimatum

Henry refused to confirm he issued a "him or me" ultimatum to the club and said he is happy to work with Hayne.

"The feud situation is a good way to energise and polarise people but there's no feud between us," he said.

"We're sitting here together doing team review in the front row so it's not like we don't talk to each other. That is rubbish.

"It's a beat-up in the media."

He is confident the two can co-exist at the club next season.

"He's contracted here as much as I'm contracted so time will tell around that," he said.

"He's a quality player and if he chooses to play here he would be part of my team."

The situation has created unwanted headlines.

"It's distracting to the players, to me, to the coaching staff, right through the organisation," Henry said.

"It's upsetting. The board have got to do some due diligence."

The Titans sit in 14th place with just seven wins this season and Henry says he understands why his future is attracting some attention.

"I'm positive the club can move in the right direction and I want to be part of that," he said.

"Time will tell. I mean, I'm a realist, we're in a tough business, coaches, and when your team's not performing and there's other issues about it doesn't take much to be some speculation."
