There is a hidden planet in the Star Wars Universe named after Drogheda, Co Louth

A planet hidden in the Star Wars Universe is named after Drogheda in Co Louth.

The small planet in the galaxy far far away, was spotted by a hawk-eyed Reddit user on an official Star Wars galaxy map.

Phooka12 on Reddit said in a post, "Meanwhile in a galaxy far away", with a photo of the Star Wars Universe and an arrow pointing at Drogheda.

The secret planet can be found in the 'Teraab' section of the universe around the Mid Rim in grid Q11.

Surrounding planets include Pesmenben, Dica, and the more commonly known Ruusan where the Sith Lords were created.

The planet is described as having a "moderately warm" climate covered in forests and mountains, according to fan made website 'Wookieepedia'.

It is said to be inhabited by humans and was ruled by the warrior Queen Maeve at one point who began the 'state religion of the Galactic Republic itself'.

A point of interest found on the planet is the Drogheda Citadel which was the "headquarters of the ruling family of the planet".

The description reads: "The Drogheda Citadel was a near impenetrable castle on the planet Drogheda.

"It was the headquarters of the ruling family of the planet, and was only reachable by Sky-sled.

"During the Drogheda Civil War, the citadel was attacked by the Drogheda Revolutionaries, led by Lando Calrissian and Danu.

"The current owner of the citadel Queen Sarna was captured by the rebels and desposed."

The planet is rich in ore and serves as a wealthy mining planet in the region.
