There are clubs that want me, admits Nottingham Forest 'target' Cristhian Stuani

Reported Nottingham Forest target Cristhian Stuani has admitted “there are clubs that want me”.

The Girona forward has been speaking about his future following his team’s relegation from La Liga, and says he is flattered by the attention he has received.

The Reds are said to have reignited their interest in Stuani, having previously been linked with him while Aitor Karanka was still in charge.

European giants Barcelona, Celtic and Mexican outfit CF Monterrey are also said to be keen on the front man, with a cut-down £6.1m pricetag being reported, as a result of Girona dropping down a division.

Speaking while on international duty with Uruguay, Stuani says he has not yet spoken to the Spanish club about his future.

“I have not talked or sat down (with Girona), so I still do not know what they have,” he told Catalunya Radio in a translated interview.

“Right now my priority is the selection (for his country).

“I have made lots of goals and that draws attention. There are clubs that want me and that’s a praise.”

Stuani made the move to Girona from Middlesbrough two years ago, having worked with Karanka at the Riverside Stadium.

Despite a tough season for the team, he still finished as fifth-top scorer in the league with 19 goals – 20 in all competitions, plus three for his country.

He says relegation is a tough blow, though, having expected to be playing for the club in the top tier “for many years”.

“It is a difficult situation for the club because it has a very important and very good project,” the 32-year-old added.

“In fact, I am one of those who bet to play there for many years in the First Division, but we had this setback which the club should use as experience and as a turning point so that it can rise quickly.”
