Liverpool is set to get brand new or refurbished play areas this year, as part of Liverpool council’s Play Improvement Programme.
The programme includes both upgrading existing play areas and opening brand new ones.
There are 20 locations that are included in the city wide scheme and many of the new play areas are already open.
Work is taking place and is soon to be completed in areas such as Belle Vale, Allerton, Speke, Garston, Hunts Cross and West Derby.
Play areas that are open or have refurbishment underway include:
- Score Lane Gardens - Childwall - New natural play area
- Norris Green Park - Norris Green - New natural play area
- Ackers Hall - Yew Tree - New natural play area
- Parkhill POS - Riverside - Redevelopment of existing playground
- Wavertree Playground - Wavertree - New natural play area
- Kirkdale Rec’ Ground - Kirkdale - Redevelopment of existing playground
- Beechwood Gardens - Cressington - New natural play area
- Netherley Park - Belle Vale - New play area set to be completed
- Camp Hill - Allerton and Hunts Cross - New natural play area
- Clarke Gardens - Allerton and Hunts Cross - New natural play area
- Canning Area - Central/ Princes Park - New natural play area
- Rice Lane - Warbreck - Refurbishment of pathways , new seating, picnic benches and new natural play area
- Croxteth Park - West Derby - New natural play area and fort refurbishment
- Banks Road - Speke and Garston - Refurbishment of existing playground
- Blackrod Rec’ Ground - Speke and Garston - Redevelopment of existing playground and more modern equipment
