Alan Shearer has heaped praise on Liverpool for their winning mentality after they came from behind to score two late goals and beat Aston Villa on Saturday.
Andrew Robertson pulled the Reds level in the 87th minute before Sadio Mane stole all three points with a winner deep into stoppage time.
That dramatic turnaround ensured that Jurgen Klopp's side head into next weekend's top-of-the-table clash with Manchester City holding a healthy six-point lead over their title rivals.
It was the type of victory that only champions can grind out and Shearer was quick to praise the Reds for their never-say-die spirit which saw them come out on top right at the death,

Speaking on Match of the Day, Shearer said: “This Liverpool team don't do defeats, do they? 28 matches in the league unbeaten. It wasn’t a great performance but they kept believing, their mentality is incredible, to keep going and in the end, they found a way."
The former Newcastle United frontman signalled out the matchwinner, Mane , for his performance and insisted he always looked like the man who would turn the game for Liverpool.
“It always helps if you’ve got someone like Mane in your team," he added.
"We kept saying that if something was going to happen it would be him that would make it happen. He was the one I always felt that was trying to drive them forward, what a ball that is (Firmino ‘goal'), we didn’t agree with that, we thought it was a ridiculous decision to give that offside.
“That’s a dive (Mane), there are no complaints from the Liverpool players, they all agree, he gets a yellow card and it’s the right decision. You know he can go left or right, he goes left, decent effort.
"Speaking about full-backs, what a cross this is. Mane whips it in, there’s the other full-back, 87th minute that is. Then a good ball in and what a great header.
"He’s brave, gets away from the defender and finds the corner of the net. It wasn’t a good performance but it was a winning one.”
