This could be a match made in heaven. Bryony Lavery adapts Angela Carter's The Bloody Chamber, a rich and feverish reimagining of the Bluebeard story which comes with a neat twist. It tells of a 17-year-old virgin who is courted by an older man and whose wedding gifts include a ruby choker "like an extraordinarily precious slit throat". Taken to his isolated castle, the young bride soon finds her husband's secret stash of pornographic drawings, but it is when she discovers other more bloody secrets that her life is put in danger. The combination of feminism, fairytale and the erotic could make this one of the must-see productions of the autumn.
