Part of a season of new work developed though the Bristol Old Vic's writers' room initiative that continues with Tom Wainwright's Muscle later in the week, Sarah Cuddon's play uses the scenario of a late-night DJ heard by one lonely listenter to ask the question if music can really make a difference to people's lives. It's terrific to see new writing back at BOV, particularly when it's by local talent. If you want more, the Short Fuses programme that is part of this season offers bite-sized plays by brand new writers over the coming week. Later in the BOV season there is new writing by more established writers with local connections. Paradise is a new play by Somerset playwright, Nell Leyshon who has written beautifully about rural experience in Comfort Me With Apples. Carl Grose has worked extensively with Kneehigh both as an actor and writer and his play Superstitious Mountain should be well worth seeing.
