Shared Experience is a company that constantly plunders its own past and revives productions, such as its celebrated version of Jane Eyre or War And Peace. While that's great, particularly when there's a real demand, it is also good to see the company mounting new work. This one, written and directed by Polly Teale, sounds a cracker. It tells of the couple who have everything: a nice house, good jobs, a happy marriage, except for the one thing that they really want - a baby. So they decide to adopt. But the baby comes with strings attached and soon they are entangled in the life of the baby's troubled biological mother. Teale has already written wonderfully about female experience and motherhood, so this should be worth a look as it heads out on tour.
