Complicite's award-winning show was first seen at Plymouth last year before it stormed into the Barbican. It is doing the same this year, which means that the south-west once again outdoes London. Though probably not Complicite's best work, this is a beautiful, remarkably complex piece of theatre that meditates on maths, meaning, patterns and randomness as it mixes the simplest theatre techniques with high-tech wizardry to terrific effect. My feeling when I saw the show last year in London was that it displayed a little too much head and not enough heart, but having had time to mature and develop, this is likely to be well worth catching even if you've already seen it. Complicite is one of those companies that never considers a show finished and always keeps working on it, dedication which often means its work is worth seeing more than once.
