The Zak Rudden Rangers transfer clause that could see Partick Thistle new boy return to Ibrox

Partick Thistle completed the signing of Zak Rudden from Rangers on Wednesday.

But the forward could eventually return to Ibrox due to a clause in his transfer.

Thistle paid an undisclosed fee for the former Falkirk loanee and will be hoping he can fire them up the table.

It's Rangers statement on the transfer that hints the 19-year-old could find his way back to Ibrox if he develops like Thistle hope he does.

Clubs abroad often have 'buyback' clauses in their deals when they let a highly-rated youth player go and it appears like Rangers have done the same here.

Rangers announced the exit on their website with a statement that says: "Rangers Football Club can today confirm that striker Zak Rudden has joined Partick Thistle on a permanent transfer for an undisclosed fee, with the club retaining options on Zak for the future.

"The 19-year-old came through the ranks at Rangers Youth Academy and had loan spells at Falkirk and most recently English League Two side Plymouth Argyle.

"We thank Zak for his time at the club and wish him all the best at Partick Thistle."

It's the second sentence that is interesting with Rangers 'retaining options on Zak for the future'. That suggests the Ibrox side have agreed a price with Partick Thistle that they would have to pay if they want to sign him back in the future.

Rudden played in Steven Gerrard's first game in charge against Bury in a pre-season friendly and even grabbed a goal before heading out on loan.

He scored 13 goals in 32 games for Falkirk as the Bairns were relegated but his spell in England this season didn't go as well.

He joined Plymouth but injuries caused him issues and he scored just three times in 17 games.
