The Young Offenders viewers 'howling' with laughter as new season returns on RTE

The Young Offenders was back with a bang on TV on Monday night.

The highly-anticipated second season, which was co-produced by BBC, returned to RTE 2.

And the first episode had viewers raving on social media, with some comparing it to beloved show Father Ted.

The show follows the lovable Cork duo Conor and Jock - who is a dad-to-be after girlfriend Siobhan became pregnant at the end of season one.

Fans were "howling" with laughter towards the end of the show, as Conor and Linda appeared to be on the verge of having sex for the first time.

Viewers were in stitches by Jock's four step plan for Conor.

The "four plays":

  • Use tongue
  • Get naked slowly
  • Talk about your d***
  • Stick it in and wiggle it all about

The first installment of the new season also featured a cameo from soccer legend Roy Keane.

Irish writer Paul Howard took to Twitter after the episode, and said: "Loved the new Young Offenders tonight."

Another user said: "Series 2 of #TheYoungOffenders doesn’t let up on the chaotic, surreal, hilarious and the unbelievably sweet.

"Cement it up there with Father Ted and Derry Girls in the league of beloved Irish TV shows. It’s going nowhere."

A third said: "Absolutely blitzed Season 2 of The Young Offenders.

"Cork's finest, boy. And a cameo from Roy Keane! Great Irish comedy."

Another added: "There aren't too many shows my son will watch with me (without being forced to...) but we will always watch #theyoungoffenders together. So happy it's back."

A fifth said: "Season 2 of #theyoungoffenders is everything you want it to be! Series 3 on the cards? I hope so!"

A sixth added: " #theyoungoffenders is by far the best thing on Irish television at the minute."

A seventh said: "Once again, #YoungOffenders had me howling with laughter."
