The Year of Miss Agnes by Kirkpatrick Hill – review

This story is all about a new teacher, Miss Agnes Sutterfield, arriving at Fred’s Athabascan village in Alaska. Fred was actually Fredrika and she liked to be a tomboy.

Fred started liking Miss Agnes because she did things differently. She did not for example start with History or Geography but she started the year by throwing all their old books out and reading Greek myths and Robin Hood.

Fred was surprised because they never started the year like this. She also noticed that room was much neater than before. There was a map hung up at the wall and all the gunky corners were cleaned by Miss Agnes. The year was a good kind of different for Fred from the rest of the years she had been at that school, and after Miss Agnes’s entry Fred started liking school.

I liked this story because my imaginary teacher should be like this.
