The XFL just revealed its first quarterback

While football fans are gearing up for the start of the college football and NFL seasons, the reborn XFL is preparing for its inaugural season in 2020.

The locations of the league’s eight teams have been revealed (Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Seattle, New York, St. Louis, Tampa Bay and Washington D.C.), head coaches have been hired, and on Thursday, the XFL announced the signing of its first player.

Jones, a former college star at Oklahoma, made 18 appearances and five starts for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and had very short stints with the Jaguars and Raiders.

According to the league, Jones will enter a pool of eight quarterbacks that will be distributed to teams prior to the XFL draft.

Via the XFL:

“The XFL will sign seven other leading quarterbacks before its inaugural player draft in October and each team’s Head Coach will select their quarterback just prior to the draft. Details about the draft will be shared at a later date.”

Jones’ former college head coach Bob Stoops is the coach of the Dallas XFL team, so it wouldn’t be a shock to see Jones land in Big D.
