The Daily Mirror gives a tentative thumbs up to the Geordie star, calling her "a hit ... even though her Geordie accent left several contestants tongue-tied". The Sun is more certain, describing how Cole "dazzled" the US audience with a debut "triumph". However, the Daily Star spoils the party, saying "terrified" Cole "got off to a shaky start on X Factor USA with a dodgy hairdo and a fellow judge asked: 'Who are you?'" Ooh er! What's she ever done to you?
