The worst Outlander episodes as chosen by the fans

As Outlander fans we've been pretty spoiled when it comes to incredible scenes, top acting, brilliant writing, and of course the terrific source material.

But as with everything, things can't be perfect all of the time, and even award-winning shows like Outlander can have a misstep or two along the way.

So, curious to find out which episodes of this amazing TV show you thought were the worst and you were more than happy to offer your opinion with hundreds of responses.

Though there were more than a few offerings there were five that really stood out as episodes you had problems with.

In reverse order, here are the five worst episodes, according to you the fans.

Wentworth Prison (season 1, episode 15)

The torture scenes in Wentworth were tough for many to endure (Starz)

This dark and gritty episode was chosen purely down to the torture scenes with Black Jack and Jamie. A tough watch, fans felt they would struggle to watch it a second time.
One fan wrote: "The acting was superb but I can't watch that episode again."

Though fans complimented the acting as the most "intense, courageous ever", people agreed that it was just too intense for them.

Famous Last Words (season 5, episode 8)

Roger's ordeal was something many of you didn't enjoy (Starz)

The biggest complaint about this episode was the sepia filtered silent movie flashbacks to the ordeal Roger suffered after the Battle of Alamance.
Repetitive and torturous, it caused a lot of fans to complain that this episode was the one they hated.
"It was well done in the book," responded one person. "But the show ruined it."
While another added that they tried to be "too artsy" with this particular episode.

The Search

Certain episodes didn't land well with fans (Starz)

A rare entry for season one, but though most people love their first entry into the Outlander Universe, there were a lot of fans who hated The Search - and Claire's rendition of the Andrew Sisters’ “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” was top of the list in particular.

As one fan put it: "This was NOT in the books and had the stench of Hollywood perspectives all over it!"

Another wrote: "The Search, hands down. I don't even think Sam's in the episode, and the plot of Claire performing Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy is silly, badly written, and far too long.

"The whole episode drags, and you can easily skip it without missing anything."

Down the Rabbit Hole (season 4, episode 7)

Brianna's adventures in Down the Rabbit Hole were a misstep for some of you (Starz)

This Brianna-centric episode seemed to hit all the wrong notes with a lot of fans, with a vocal minority voicing their displeasure at both the character and the actress who plays her.

The fact that Laoghaire replaced Jamie's sister Jenny in the scene was another mishit.

Fans referred to it as "horrible" with one person posting: "Down the Rabbit Hole. Was a ridiculous completely made-up episode. Horrible!"

Another wrote: "Down the Rabbit Hole was the worst for me, but that's because I really don't like Brianna."

Crème De Menthe (season 3, episode 7)

Creme de Menthe seems to be the least popular episode with fans (Starz)

Though there were a few episodes that stood out in the fan's suggestions, few drew more ire than Crème De Menthe in season 3.

Claire trying to save a man who assaults her, an alcohol deal gone wrong, and of course a body dumped in a cask of the eponymous mint-flavored alcoholic beverage.

Safe to say it was a bum note in season 3 and the one fans seem to love to hate.

Speaking about it, one wrote: "Creme the Menthe also known as 'when Claire acted like a prized idiot for attempting to save that thug'".

Another added: "It deviated from the book just too much and it was from there on that Jamie was just a sidekick to Claire."
