The worst franchises in NFL International Games

Not every team thrives when they leave U.S. soil. While some franchises like the Minnesota Vikings and Kansas City Chiefs boast perfect records abroad, others have found international travel to be a stumbling block.

These records matter for fans and bettors since a team’s form on foreign turf can shift the NFL BET odds just as much as injuries or home-field advantage.

Without further ado, here’s a look at the franchises that have struggled most on the global stage.

Miami Dolphins – 1-5

No franchise has lost more international games than the Dolphins. Miami’s latest setback came in Frankfurt in 2023, where they fell 21-14 to the Chiefs.

That marked their third straight defeat after losses to the Jacksonville Jaguars (2021) and New Orleans Saints (2017), both in London.

Their lone highlight came a decade ago at Wembley in 2014, when they routed the then-Oakland Raiders 38-14.

With a 1-5 overall record, the Dolphins’ international woes make them the most disappointing travellers in NFL history.

Tennessee Titans – 0-2

Among the teams yet to win internationally, the Titans have had two opportunities and failed both times.

In 2023, they fell 24-16 to the Baltimore Ravens at Tottenham. Their only previous trip abroad was back in 2018, when they suffered a heartbreaking 20-19 defeat to the Los Angeles Chargers at Wembley.

Tennessee will have to wait for another chance to change their fortunes.

Green Bay Packers – 0-2

The Packers’ international journey has been equally frustrating. Their long-awaited London debut in 2022 ended in disappointment, as they lost 27-22 to the New York Giants at Tottenham.

In 2024, they made history by travelling to Brazil for the league’s first-ever game in São Paulo, but again came up short, losing 34-29 to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Both defeats were narrow, but Green Bay’s winless record underscores their struggles on foreign soil.

Buffalo Bills – 0-2

The Bills’ wait for international success mirrors their long-standing pursuit of a Super Bowl. They’ve twice travelled abroad to face Jacksonville and twice returned home defeated.

A 34-31 loss at Wembley in 2015 was followed by another setback in 2023, this time a 25-20 defeat at Tottenham.

Their inability to get past the Jaguars has cemented them as one of the least successful overseas franchises.

Arizona Cardinals – 0-2

Few teams have endured as rough a time abroad as the Cardinals. In their 2017 London debut, they were completely shut out in a 33-0 defeat to the Rams.

Five years later, their fortunes didn’t improve: a 38-10 thrashing at the hands of the 49ers in Mexico City left them with another heavy defeat.

It’s safe to say international travel has not been kind to Arizona, so they perhaps sighed in relief when not designated to face the Indianapolis Colts in Berlin this year.

Other strugglers

  • Cleveland Browns (0-1): The Browns’ only international outing came in 2017, a 33-16 defeat to the Vikings at Twickenham. They’ll get a shot at redemption on October 5 when they return to London against Minnesota.
  • Pittsburgh Steelers (0-1): The Steelers’ lone appearance abroad also ended in defeat, but they’ll look to flip the script when they take on the Vikings in Dublin on September 28. Backed by a huge Irish fanbase, Pittsburgh may feel more at home than most.
