The worst areas for coronavirus infections in Leeds - with one concerning hotspot

With local lockdowns continuing in nearby Bradford for another week at least, some in Leeds may be wondering whether similar restrictions could be implemented here.

After the first two coronavirus related deaths at the city's hospitals in nearly a month, and the council reporting infection spikes in both Harehills and Kirkstall, we decided to take a look at the most affected Leeds areas - and how they compare to those in lockdown elsewhere in West Yorkshire.

The city as a whole currently has 4,028 cases, approximately 507.9 per every 100,000 residents. In Bradford, there have been 5,543 reported cases so far, equating to 1,026.9 per 100,000 residents.

Areas with multiple infections between August 3 and August 9

The most recent available data charts infections between Monday, August 3 and Sunday, August 9.

It shows that the area of the city with the highest number of infections was Ladywood & Oakwood, with 18 new recorded cases over that time period.

However, this is still lower than the most affected area of West Yorkshire during these dates: Pellon East in Halifax, where 30 cases were recorded.
