The worrying trend for Arsenal and Spurs which hands top four boost to Chelsea and Man United

North London duo Arsenal and Tottenham have both struggled to find consistency in the first few months of the season, which have led to a growing deficit for the pair in the hunt for a top-four finish.

The Gunners are six points behind the Champions League places heading into this weekend's clash with fourth-placed Leicester City, with the margin potentially extending further if they lose at the King Power Stadium.

Meanwhile, Spurs' 1-1 draw with Everton on Sunday has left Mauricio Pochettino's side in the bottom half of the table ahead of the hosting of high-flying Sheffield United this weekend.

A huge concern is the inability of both sides to hold onto a lead, something that has been identified by a remarkable stat that has emerged about the pair.

As identified by Opta, Arsenal have lost a lead in five different games so far this season across all competitions, most recently against Vitoria, and have not won any of their last four, despite leading in them all.

However, Spurs are the undisputed 'champions' in this area as Pochettino's side have failed to hold onto a leading position in seven matches across all competitions.

That stat shows that significant improvements are needed in the coming months if Spurs and Arsenal are to claw their way back into the Champions League race, in turn handing a boost to Chelsea and Manchester United.

While the Red Devils are also lacking consistency, Frank Lampard's side have laid down an impressive marker so far this season and currently look nailed on to secure another season in Europe's elite competition.
