The worrying Harry Kane stat that summed up Tottenham's dismal defeat to Crystal Palace

Tottenham were beaten 3-0 at the hands of Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon in what was a dismal showing from Nuno Espirito Santo's team.

Spurs suffered their first defeat of the Premier League season at Selhurst Park after going down to 10 men in the second-half in south London.

Japhet Tanganga's red card undoubtedly changed the game, but even before that, Tottenham could not get going on the road - something that inflicted Espirito Santo's first defeat as Spurs manager.

Harry Kane started for the visitors but could not get into the game at all, with a severe lack of service for the England captain.

For the first time in his Premier League career, Kane neither had a shot nor a touch in the opposition box throughout the 90 minutes, according to Opta.

It is quite a staggering statistic and one that will worry Tottenham supporters. In a way, it summed up Spurs' disaster of an afternoon in south London.

Speaking after the game, former Spurs striker Peter Crouch spoke about Espirito Santo's tactics and called for his old side to be quicker in how they attack.

"You had it with Mourinho and that didn’t last too long. You want to see fast, expansive, enjoyable football and it certainly wasn’t that today," Crouch said on BT Sport.

"But they’ve won the first three games. Arsenal are bottom of the league, a lot of Spurs fans were very very happy before today’s game.

"Let’s take it out the equation, have it as a one-off a lot of players missing and I think that’s what the manager will be saying in there and carry on where they left off."
