The world's top goalscorer and Newcastle United legend's son - the bizarre Bank Holiday transfer links

While for many it is far too early to be making concrete transfer links given that the takeover has yet to be signed off - that hasn't stopped reports from Europe writing up a transfer wishlist for Newcastle United.

From Philippe Coutinho to Kalidou Kouliaby - United fans have seen some big names linked to a post-Ashley era but there have also been some equally as bizarre left-field names touted.

First, the name of Abderrazak Hamdallah who is a striker with Saudi champions Al-Nassr and, according to Mercato, is on the radar of the new owners of United.

It's a name few United fans will have heard of - despite the fact that he was crowned the world's top goalscorer across the professional game after hitting 57 goals in the calendar year of 2019 - surpassing Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski who scored 54 goals - and Barcelona’s Lionel Messi (50 goals).

He had fleeting experience in European football - hitting 19 goals in 30 games for Norwegian side Aalesund - as well as spells in China and Qatar.

At the age of 29, his goal tally stands at 175 goals in 200 games.

His contract runs until June 2022, and he said to be valued at around £18 million.

The other name to be linked is the son of Laurent Robert - Thomas.

The 19-year-old will be available on a free this summer after rejecting a new deal from Montpellier. His agent, Mark McKay, via Football Insider, claims Newcastle alongside Celtic and Rangers are looking at snapping the winger up.

But the fact remains that all of this can be taken with a pinch of salt until the Premier League give the green light for the Saudi backed group to buy the club from Ashley.
