The 'world's largest' pig in blanket - available until Christmas

Pigs in blankets have become a festive staple in recent years - for many, the best part of a Christmas Day dinner with all the trimmings.

With this is mind, we have seen a host of different variants of the popular dish being sold as Chirstmas approaches - but a chip shop in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, is now claiming to be selling the "world's largest" pig in a blanket.

Papas Fish & Chips are making the festive treat which measures in at whopping 2ft long - meaning it might take more than one person to finish it off.

They are so big, they have  been labelled “hogs in duvets”, reports Grimsby Live.

The enormous battered sausages are being sold by the chippy on Cleethorpes pier for £3.99 and will be available until Christmas.

As an added bonus, all proceeds made from the sales are going to the Cash For Kids charity.

"We've always sold battered pigs in blankets during the festive period for the past five years," said George Papas.

"Last year we sold a foot-long [one] but this year we have moved it up another level and are selling the world's largest battered pigs in blankets that we are calling a hog in a duvet.

"It’s the most amazing pigs in blanket you could ever have. It would be a challenge for one to eat but we would love to see if anyone can, and if not, it's something to order on top of your fish and chips to share.

"We love Christmas and getting in the spirit so this is a great way to do it, as well as raising money for charity as well.

"All the money we make from the hogs in duvets is going to Cash For Kids so that all children in our area can have a better Christmas.

"We are a family business and believe in helping out as many children and family charities locally as possible. It is our way of saying thank you and giving back to the community."

The 2ft treat has been especially made Papas usual sausage maker. Both the pork used in the sausage and the bacon is taken from British pigs.
