The world's biggest Primark store opens this week - take a look inside

Primark has been a mainstay on high streets up and down the country for well over a decade.

And later this week the the chain is opening the world's biggest Primark store in the UK.

The new flagship Birmingham store has been an integral part of the massive redevelopment of Birmingham's New Street station and extension of the Bull Ring which has also seen a John Lewis arrive in the city.

Ahead of its opening members of the public, including family and friends of staff members, got to have a pre-opening nose around the giant shop which includes a Disney section, a cafe and a barber.

The new High Street entrance has a central escalator block with the words: 'Hello Brum' as well as 'Amazing fashion, Amazing prices' and 'Find your amazing', reports  Birmingham Live .

There are digital window displays facing outdoor shoppers, too, as well as the latest clothing range dedicated to Harry Potter, which originally launched in September 2017.

One of the first guests to be invited into the family and friends day tour said: "You can get official Disney printed T-shirts, with children's sizes just £5 before you start to add your own text below an image of your favourite character.

"It's the same with official Barcelona T-shirts, which could be 30 or 40 euros abroad but which I think will be less than £10 here.

Inside there are multiple references to the city, a wall full of B-words includes "Brummie, balti, beautiful, barmy, blabberin', babby, Broad Street, Brilllllllllliant, bonkers, bouncing and buzz."

An image of the 'largest free-standing clock tower in the world' at the University of Birmingham says: "Old Joe stands so tall, it's impressive really."

The floor numbers go from Minus 2 to Plus 2 because the Moor Street Queensway entrance is a long way below the High Street/New Street entrance.

The current Primark on New Street will close on Wednesday [April 10] and the stock there is expected to be transferred to other stores.

The new High Street store will open at 10am on Thursday, April 11.
