While many may know the golden oldie Summer Wine, made famous by Nancy Sinatra, Thailand's tropical heat does leave one hungry for more than strawberries and cherries. To make sure you survive the summer (and yearly heat), Thailand's first wine app is here.
The Virtual Wine Cellar (V|C) lets Bangkok's wine enthusiasts and party planners order wine without leaving their homes or parties, and guarantees delivery in less than two hours.
Launched by The Wine Merchant Company, co-founded by Pattira "Nan" Phuksawan and Aman Sachdev, the V|C app is currently available on iOS, with an Android version in the works. The app gives users access to a large selection of wines from around the world, saving a trip to the store. With a user-friendly interface, the V|C app allows users to choose wines from top producers at wholesale prices, seven days a week. Like approaching a restaurant wine list, users can choose based on preference like white, red or rosé, country, vintage, brand and price range. The app also gives information about the vineyards and varieties of grapes, and a tasting note that includes ratings by acclaimed and influential wine critics.
"We thought Bangkok needed this app because everyone is online these days, so we decided to launch the app to make life more convenient. Drinking wine is becoming more popular and people are more educated about good wines. Our app updates real time with the wines in stock," said V|C's Shalini Singhsachathet.
The Virtual Wine Cellar offers about 20,000 fine wines from France, Italy and other leading winemaking countries. All wines are stored in a temperature-controlled warehouse and are carefully packed for delivery to ensure smallest variations in temperature when delivered.
