The Wire actor Lance Reddick dies aged 60

The Wire actor Lance Reddick has died at the age of 60, according to reports in the US tonight.

The body of the star, best known for his roles on The Wire and John Wick, was said to have been discovered at at his Studio City home in Los Angeles on Friday morning.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ the cause of death is currently unclear, but it appears to be natural. Reddick was taking part in a press tour for the fourth instalment of popular franchise John Wick prior to his death. He plays the role of Charon in the movie and was scheduled to talk about the latest movie on Kelly Clarkson's talk show next week.

On Wednesday he posted a video of himself with his dogs on social media. The clip came as he was due to be attending the Wick 4 premiere in New York City. The actor never mentioned why he chose not to show up at the event, reports The Mirror.

Prior to Wick, Lance was famed for his role as Baltimore Police Department officer Cedrick Daniels on hit show The Wire. His character appeared in all five seasons of the popular HBO series.

Other small screen credits on his resume included shows such as Fringe, Bosch, Oz and Lost. Movies he featured in included Angel Has Fallen and Godzilla Vs Kong.

He currently has a number of unreleased projects he had been working on, including the Greek god Zeus in Disney+'s upcoming series titled Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Following the news of his death, fans took to social media to share messages of condolence.

One Twitter user wrote: "RIP Lance Reddick. One of my favourite actors and the only person to ever scare Eric Andre. Always gave the performance of his life in anything he was in from John Wick to The Wire to Fringe. He will be dearly missed."

Another penned: "Rest in Peace, Lance Reddick. You are so loved," while sharing a black and white image of the star.

And a third said: "Rest in peace to Lance Reddick an incredible actor with an amazing body of work. He lent his amazing and unique voice, both literally and artistically, to many different projects and characters over his career, but I will always remember him for having my favourite Eric Andre bit."
