The Cardinals!?!?!
In the two-plus weeks since J.J. Watt was cut by the Houston Texans, it was assumed he’d land with a playoff team that might be a piece or two away from the Super Bowl. With teams such as the Steelers, Packers, Browns and Bills reportedly interested in the veteran pass rusher, it appeared as if Watt was headed north. Instead, he’s hopping one state over to join a Cardinals team that finished third in the NFC West last season and will have a tough time even holding onto that spot with the 49ers getting healthy and the Rams upgrading at quarterback.
Obviously, the money made the decision far easier…
The #AZCardinals are giving JJ Watt a 2-year deal worth $31M with $23M guaranteed, source said.

That’s a decent chunk of money, but if Watt can play at the same level he did in 2020 when he was still healing from a surgically repaired back, the Cardinals will get decent value out of this. Arizona and Watt can both be considered winners for this one, but they’re not the only ones affected by the deal. I’ve picked out three more winners and losers who will be most affected by Watt picking the Cardinals…
