The Who have postponed all their remaining tour dates this year while Roger Daltrey recovers from viral meningitis.

Daltrey released a statement apologising for disappointing fans and explaining that he has spent the past four weeks in and out of hospital.

“I have been diagnosed with viral meningitis,” Daltrey wrote. “I am now on the mend and feeling a lot better but I am going to need considerable time to recover.

“The doctors tell me I will make a complete recovery, but that I should not do any touring this year.”

The Who closed this year’s Glastonbury festival in June, later claiming that they were booked at last minute when Prince pulled out.

Daltrey said they will reschedule their North American tour dates in 2016.
