Bonjour B*tches, White Lotus Season 4 Is Apparently Heading To The French Riviera

If you’re anything like me, your Monday nights have felt empty and meaningless since the masterpiece that is season three of The White Lotus came to an end.

It’s not hard to see why, as the show clocked a whopping fifteen Emmys across its first two seasons and it’s third season was just as incredible.

Although our Monday night ritual has come to an end this year, The White Lotus was picked up for season four before season three even premiered. Thank you to the HBO Gods for understanding true beauty when it exists.

Since our new favourite ‘eat the rich’ extravaganza is coming back for a fourth rendition, we’ve pulled together everything we know so far. We’ll keep this updated as we learn more, so watch this space.

When is The White Lotus Season 4 coming out?

I’m going to try and put this gently.

We had to wait over two years between season two and season three. By that trajectory, it’s really not looking good timeframe wise.

It’s understood that Season 4 of The White Lotus will begin production in 2026, so we can expect a drop at either the end of 2026 or early 2027.

In all honesty, I will be continuing to hope and plead for an earlier release date, but realistic expectations are everything.

We’ll probably need to sit tight for a little while longer.

Is there a trailer for The White Lotus Season 4?

NO.

No, there isn’t.

Believe me, when it’s out, you’ll be the first to know.

Who’s starring in The White Lotus Season 4?

It’s still very early days on who we might see pop up on our screens for season four of The White Lotus, and the show doesn’t really bring back characters except for a select few (Belinda, my beloved).

But never say never, as even creator Mike White has teased the possibility of recurring characters galore.

In a May 2023 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, White mentioned the possibility of bringing back past characters for an ‘all-star season’, adding that “it would be easy to just be full-on anthology, but I think it’s more fun to have little threads through the show.”

If you too were obsessed with Valentina’s (Sabrina Impacciatore) energy in season two, we might be blessed enough to see her return. Only time will tell.

Online, people definitely have their own fancasts in mind — my personal favourite being Phoebe Waller-Bridge as an alcoholic maid. Fleabag x The White Lotus crossover anyone?!!?!?

Where is Season 4 of The White Lotus taking place?

Season four of The White Lotus has had fans frothing at the mouth with theories about its next drop-dead gorgeous location. Seriously, if you chucked the internet’s wildest suggestions into a hat, you’d get everything from New York family feuds starring Kieran Culkin (dream casting, TBH) to literal battle royales on the Bosphorus. It’s been chaos. But now — finally — the story has some glamourously French legs to stand on.

Let’s not beat around the baguette. According to Variety, production isn’t just eyeing France — they’re scouting swanky digs in Paris and the South of France, specifically places that practically scream “old money” in eight different languages. The French Riviera is apparently the main stage, with a possible Paris subplot thrown in for good measure, which means berets, croissants and maybe a cheeky murder next to a Cézanne.

That famous Four Seasons partnership? Yeah, that’s been binned, so The White Lotus coterie will be bunking up elsewhere this time. Variety reckons hotels like Le Lutetia (the same place that Hemingway and Picasso used to crash when they weren’t busy being icons) and the historic Ritz Paris — where rival fashion queens like Coco Chanel practically left their perfume in the wallpaper — are top contenders.

Meanwhile, over at Deadline, the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat in the south is on the shortlist. It’s a five-star joint with coastline views so crispy you could Instagram them without a filter. Side note: It’s still a Four Seasons, so maybe there’s hope for tradition yet.

Fans previously thought Istanbul, Marrakech, Egypt or Mexico were on the cards — thanks to juicy blind items. A Deuxmoi blind item suggested Istanbul had creator Mike White drooling over the “urban setting” and “bridge between Europe and Asia” aesthetic, but the network allegedly kicked up a fuss over the cost (and Turkey’s lack of those sweet, sweet production credits), which is why we’re not getting a Turkish delight this time.

Max (formerly HBO Max) was seriously considering Marrakech for a hot second, mainly because they’ve got a “cushy deal” with a Four Seasons there and it’s a Hollywood fave for filming. Meanwhile, whispers from Parade in February this year had producers torn between Egypt and Mexico, with the main criteria being “anywhere that isn’t Asia”, so we could tick off a new continent.

But now, all signs point to the snazziest stretch of the French Riviera.

What will the newest season be about?

All three seasons of The White Lotus have started off in a similar vein — a murder mystery, which then sets the basis of the entire season as we discover what unfolded.

Can we assume that season four of The White Lotus will follow the same structure? Maybe, but alas, our fan-favourite theme song of seasons one and two disappeared for season three, so there’s no telling what could change.

Back in May 2023, White told The Hollywood Reporter about his flexibility with the future direction of the show.

“I don’t think it needs to always be a body. There are so many ways that we want to reinvent the show each year,” he said.

“Like, what is this show — other than people? A fresh mystery, people maybe expect that. But I don’t feel constrained by expectation. It’s fun.”

One thing is for certain, and it’s that our favourite showrunner already has an idea of how season four of The White Lotus will run. It was reported back in November 2024 that he had already begun pitching ideas to Casey Bloys, HBO and Max Content CEO.

As I wait with anticipation, I’ll be rewatching The White Lotus season three all over again on Max.
