'The White Lotus' collides with 'Midsommar' in this psychedelic thriller you can stream for free on Tubi

Infinity Pool.

If your ideal movie night involves luxury resorts, depraved tourists and Alexander Skarsgård having the worst all-inclusive vacation in recorded history, head on over to Tubi. There, you can watch "Infinity Pool," Brandon Cronenberg's delirious fever dream, for free — complete, totally free.

Tubi, one of the best free streaming services, boasts no shortage of horror and arthouse oddities worth diving into, but "Infinity Pool" is one of the weirder ones to be added in recent years. It stars Skarsgård as James Foster, a struggling novelist vacationing with his wealthy wife (Cleopatra Coleman) at a seaside resort. After a car accident, James learns there's a very novel loophole for rich tourists: pay enough, and you can have a clone made to take the punishment in your place.

From there, he learns about the seedy underbelly of the country's thrill-seeking inhabitants and how they tend to abuse the system that keeps them living wild and staying out of trouble. "Infinity Pool" is an absolutely feral movie and one that you'll love as part of Cronenberg's ilk, so if you're ready for a wild ride, it's a must-watch.

What is 'Infinity Pool' about?

James Foster (Alexander Skarsgård) is a novelist coasting on one mediocre book and his wife's family money. The couple books a boozy beach vacation at a lavish resort. After a night drive back to the resort with some new friends, James strikes and kills a local farmer in the dark. The fictional country of Li Tolqa, as it turns out, has very strict views on this sort of thing, and it's punishable by execution carried out by the victim's eldest son.

Lucky for James, Li Tolqa also offers a workaround: For an obscene fee, the government will produce a perfect clone of the offender to be put to death in their place. James watches a flawless copy of himself get killed, signs some paperwork, and is free to keep enjoying his vacation.

That's where Gabi (Mia Goth) comes in. This unsettling guest invites James to join a group of other repeat offenders who are using the system to their advantage. One mistake spirals into unlimited nights of violence with numerous clones being punished.

By the end of the movie, you'll be left wondering where James begins and where his clones end, and where he's headed in terms of sanity.

Why I recommend you stream 'Infinity Pool'

"Infinity Pool" is an "eat the rich" fantasy that twists the premise so far past its breaking point that it ends up somewhere genuinely new. But it's not just a shocker for the sake of being shocking. The cloning gimmick elevates it to a gripping level with how it approaches everyone who abuses it for their own means.

Cronenberg's film asks: If you could literally watch yourself die for your sins and then walk away clean, would there even be a "you" left worth saving?

And at the same time, the movie is grotesque, surreal, and uncompromising. Mia Goth steals every scene she shows up in, just like her work in "X" and "Pearl," but she gets to be even more exceptionally unhinged here.

Most of us aren't vacationing in fictional dictatorships or commissioning body doubles to die in our place. "Infinity Pool" is an escapist thriller that feels completely otherworldly, but well worth the trip. If you missed it in theaters, now's the time to rectify that by watching at home on Tubi for the stone-cold price of $0. And what's better than free?
