The Welsh seaside hotel named one of the best in Europe

A Llandudno hotel has been named the second best in the UK in the Tripadvisor Traveller's Choice Best of the Best awards - beating world famous five-star Mayfair hotel, Claridge's.

And the Lawton & Lauriston Court Hotel, which is right on the seafront in the Welsh seaside tourist town, takes 14th place on the European list.

The family-run Victorian townhouse has been restored and has 35 rooms and luscious sea views of Llandudno Bay.

It currently has five stars from 3,118 reviews on the holiday rating site, and is knocked off the UK top spot by London Hotel, The Hari, which is in Knightsbridge.

But it's not the only Llandudno hotel getting accolades in the Tripadvisor awards - which celebrate travellers’ favourite hotels, restaurants and airlines around the world and includes categories like Top Roof Top Hotels and Safari Stays.

The Tynedale is 17th in the UK list and Milverton House was name-checked in the best small hotels category.

Elsewhere, The Grove in Narberth and Caerwylan Hotel in Criccieth place at 17th and 18th respectively in the romance category.

Every year, Tripadvisor trawls through millions of reviews from its global community of travellers to uncover the hotels and B&Bs that people love.

Even during a global pandemic travellers continued to discover new places and share their advice with other holiday-goers in 2020, and despite significant disruption to the hospitality industry, hotels around the world still managed to wow guests and deliver top service.
