Top rated in Wales was The Hardwick, which was placed at 22 in the UK list. Big 7 calls it an 'essential place for a satisfying feast,' noting its sirloin of Johnny Morris Herefordshire beef or pork shoulder as one of the many must-haves.
Run by Stephen Terry, who sources the top local produce, The Hardwick also has rooms to stay and MasterChef judge Gregg Wallace is a fan, as well as Michel Roux Jr, saying it's his favourite place to eat in Wales.
It was also named a top UK gastropub by Big 7 in 2019 and has had the accolade of Best Restaurant in Wales in 2013's National Restaurant Awards.
The Plough & Harrow in Gower, which was recently named as one of the best pubs in Wales according to the Pub & Bar Awards, is 27th in the list.
Big 7 said: "The sort of place you won’t be able to leave without having a big smile on your face. It really is that good."

Y Polyn is 31st in the 2021 list and judges say: "The food here is what all good gastropub should be: you won’t find foams, gels and technical wizardry on the plate. What you will find is beautiful produce cooked simply and with respect."
