The Welsh fish and chip shop making cheesecake Easter eggs that are selling out within hours

A fish and chip shop in Wales has branched out by making cheesecake Easter eggs - and they are selling out within hours.

But don't worry, unlike some chocolate offerings from chip shops, these aren't deep fried.

The Chipyard, in Bridgend , started creating homemade cheesecakes filled with chocolate Easter eggs.

The sweet treats are proving so popular that customers are having to pre-order them as they're selling out so quickly.

It's not hard to see why, with toppings including Lindor truffles, creme eggs, Malteaster bunnies and millionaire's shortbread.

A café is selling Creme Egg and Ferrero Rocher cheesecakes INSIDE Easter eggs again - and has introduced two new flavours

Garyn Lewis, who has owned The Chipyard for five years, said: "We've had a new display cake unit so we've started doing cakes over the last few months.

"We started thinking about something homemade that we could do so we went over to Tesco and saw Easter eggs and we love cheesecake so thought about doing that.

"It's our first year doing it as we haven't done cakes before but we do anything that the customer asks for as long as it's pre-ordered.

"We do ones with caramel, Creme egg, Lindt and we put vanilla cheesecake in the eggs."

Mr Lewis said that they normally sell between 60 and 70 eggs in one weekend and that there are plenty of orders coming in for Easter.

"They're £3.95 each and they take about three hours to make," he added.

"They have been really popular. In the first week that we did them we sold 130 in four days and we do about 60 or 70 a weekend.

"It went nuts on Facebook, I didn't think it would take off like it has.

"Caramel and white chocolate is the most popular and we've got a lot of orders for Easter weekend.

"It's been a massive success."
