Which? readers have voted for their favourite small city breaks in the UK and one special Welsh city has come in second place. Pembrokeshire's St David's scored highly with readers of the consumer advice magazine and website for accommodation options and cultural attractions.
It was pipped to the top spot by Wells in Somerset, but Wales' smallest city is a worthy contender with its stunning cathedral, important history, beautiful surrounds and it has great places to stay too, for which it scored five stars with Which? members. The city scored 86% overall with readers who rated it on food and drink, crowds. value for money, accommodation, cultural attractions, shopping and ease of getting around.

As well as being a bustling little city to explore, St David's is also located in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and its peninsula features stunning beaches, such as Whitesands.
It's been a city since the status was restored in 1994 by the Queen, after initially losing it in 1886. But for centuries it has also been a place of pilgrimage due to its sacred landscape.
In April, 3,662 Which? members completed an online survey about UK towns and cities they had visited for leisure purposes in the past year and stayed in for at least one night.
Members were asked to rate the food, accommodation, sights and attractions, level of crowds, and value for money at destinations across the UK. In the same survey, Cardiff placed ninth for best large city for a short break, scoring 75% overall in the same categories.
