The Welsh campsite with the most stunning sunset you can watch from your tent

A campsite in Wales provides the best views of a stunning sunset, according to reviews.

Writer Susan Griffin has advised would be campers that they don't need to wait until the next school holidays for their next break away, in fact she believes that this time of year could be better.

Posting on 2Chill, she said: "Just because the summer holidays have drawn to a close doesn’t mean camping adventures need to end.

"There are lots of campsites that remain open until the end of October, if not longer, and there are plenty of benefits to pitching up in the autumn months.

Not only does it tend to be quieter and calmer, but the scenery is arguably at its most spectacular. Even the sunsets are more vivid at this time of year."

But there is one destination in particular that Susan recommends after she experienced what it has to offer in September for herself.

Cae Du campsite near Tywn on the west coast of Wales offers 'one of the country’s most stunning sunset views directly from your tent', according to her.

Susan said: "We first visited the site in 2015 having read about the sunset spectacles and the reality didn’t disappoint. The rural campsite’s perched right on the seafront providing panoramic views of Cardigan Bay and right along the peninsula.

"It’s a stunning spot wherever you decide to pitch but ideally you want to claim one of the pitches at the front of either field, so your view is entirely unobstructed. "

She notes another 'bonus' of the spot is that visitors are allowed to have campfires, with stone pits provided and firewood is even available to purchase for around £5 on site - as well as lamb burgers.

"Sitting by the fire with a blanket around you and a glass of something to sip while the sun sets below the horizon is the stuff of lasting memories."

According to the site’s concise bio, the campsite dates back to the 1930s when families would visit their sons training at the nearby Tonfanau camp, before welcoming Scouts and then expanding to welcome all members of the public.

You'll have to make up your own entertainment or itinerary of activities but Susan says that shouldn't matter.

She said: "It’s not what this place is about. Here, it’s about pottering about, reading a book, maybe going for a dip if you’re feeling ambitious or exploring the coastline. Or you can just simply sit in your camping chair and take in sea views, which are impossible to tire of."

There are 'spotless' facilities including a toilet block with showers available - although you will need a supply of £1 coins but there are also freezers, washing machine, shared seating with fireplace you can also make use of.

You can find Cae Du in Rhoslefain, Tywyn, Gwynedd, LL36 9ND - although the nearest train station is two miles away so you’ll need to be up for a walk if you fancy leaving the car behind, or wait around for the bus.
