Aug. 10: Unitree shares open for subscription
Unitree Robotics will open subscriptions for its planned STAR Market IPO on Aug. 10, after clearing Shanghai’s listing review and receiving CSRC registration approval. The company plans to issue 40.45 million shares, representing 10% of its enlarged share capital. The company is expected to raise 6.1 billion yuan ($901 million).
Aug. 10: MSCI adds CXMT to China All Shares Index
MSCI said ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) will join the MSCI China All Shares Index on Aug. 10. The fast-track inclusion follows the memory-chip maker’s 57.9-billion-yuan IPO on Shanghai’s STAR Market in late July.
Aug. 11: France bans unsolicited telemarketing calls
A new French law taking effect Aug. 11 will ban companies from making marketing calls without consumers’ prior explicit consent. The measure is aimed at curbing nuisance sales calls and protecting vulnerable groups from commercial fraud. Individuals face fines of up to 75,000 euros ($85,406) per call, and companies up to 375,000 euros.
Aug. 12: Google to unveil Pixel 11 lineup
Google’s 2026 Made by Google event will be held in New York on Aug. 12, where it plans to launch four Pixel 11 models, including a foldable version. The new lineup will start at 256GB of storage, with no 128GB option, alongside higher prices across the range.
Aug. 12: Honor to launch “robot phone”
Honor is set to release its Robot Phone on Aug. 12, which it describes as the world’s first “robot phone.” The device will feature a self-developed 4D mechanical gimbal main camera with a miniature motor that folds into the handset and deploys when needed. The phone is expected to carry a high price tag of more than 15,000 yuan.

Aug. 15: Russia expands crypto mining ban
Russia will from Aug. 15 ban cryptocurrency mining in Moscow, the surrounding region and eight districts in the Kursk border area. The restrictions will remain in force through Dec. 31, 2032, and also cover participation in mining pools by local residents.
Aug. 15: China’s environmental code takes effect
China’s Environmental Code will come into force on Aug. 15. The country’s second statute officially titled a “code,” after the Civil Code, it contains 1,242 articles in five sections and will replace 10 existing environmental laws, including the Environmental Protection Law.
Aug. 16: Brazil presidential race enters campaign period
Brazil’s presidential election will formally enter the campaign stage on Aug. 16, allowing candidates to openly seek votes, distribute campaign materials, hold rallies and run paid political ads online. The first round of voting is scheduled for Oct. 4, with a runoff on Oct. 25 if needed. Incumbent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is seeking re-election.
