
Apr. 6: Vietnam’s National Assembly opens
The first session of Vietnam’s 16th National Assembly is scheduled to open, where newly elected deputies will choose state leaders including the president and prime minister. The 500 deputies will serve a five-year term until 2031.
Apr. 7: China tightens short-swing trading rules
The China Securities Regulatory Commission’s new regulations on short-swing trading will take effect. The 12-article rules clarify regulatory arrangements for major shareholders, directors, supervisors, and senior executives based on domestic and overseas practices.
Apr. 7: KMT chairwoman visits the Chinese mainland
A delegation led by Kuomintang Chairwoman Cheng Li-wun will visit Jiangsu province, Shanghai, and Beijing from April 7 to 12. The trip comes at the invitation of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and General Secretary Xi Jinping.
Apr. 9: China-Europe satellite launch planned
The Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer (SMILE) satellite, jointly developed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the European Space Agency, is scheduled to launch from the Kourou spaceport in French Guiana.
Apr. 10: Internet platform pricing rules implemented
Regulations governing the pricing behavior of internet platforms, jointly issued by the National Development and Reform Commission, the State Administration for Market Regulation, and the Cyberspace Administration of China, will take effect to regulate price competition and protect consumers.
Apr. 11: Smart EV forum kicks off
The Smart EV Development High-Level Forum 2026 will be held in Beijing from April 11 to 12. Representatives from the auto, energy, and tech sectors will discuss the intelligent, green, and international development of new-energy vehicles.
Apr. 12: Peru holds general elections
Peru will hold presidential and parliamentary elections with a record 36 presidential candidates. If no candidate secures a majority, a runoff will be held on June 7, with the new president to be inaugurated on July 28.
Apr. 12: Hungary holds parliamentary elections
Hungary will hold its quadrennial parliamentary elections to allocate 199 seats. Of the total, 106 seats will be determined by direct election in individual constituencies, while the remaining 93 will be distributed among parties that enter parliament.
