The weather forecast for every borough of Greater Manchester this week

It's been a cold start to Monday for many of us, with some parts of Greater Manchester waking up to snow.

A weather warning for snow and ice is in place until later today, with a band of rain, sleet and snow moving through the region.

Parts of the M60 in Trafford were covered with a dusting of snow earlier this morning.

The rest of the week is looking a little brighter for some parts of Greater Manchester, though some are expected to briefly see some snowfall.

This is what the Met Office is forecasting for every borough this week:

Stockport

Light snow is expected on Wednesday morning, with the rest of the week expected to be cloudy with sunny intervals

Rochdale

Light snow is expected on the morning of New Year's Eve. The rest of the week is predicted to cloudy with sunny intervals

Oldham

Sleet showers are expected in the early evening on New Year's Eve, the rest of the week will be cloudy or overcast, with some sunny intervals

Trafford

A mainly cloudy week with sunny intervals

Tameside

Cloudy with sunny intervals, light snow is predicted in some parts of the borough on the morning of New Year's Eve

Salford

Light snow showers are predicted on Wednesday morning, the rest of the week is expected to be cloudy with sunny intervals

Bolton

Light snow expected on the morning of New Year's Eve, the rest of the week will be cloudy with sunny intervals

Bury

Light snow expected on the morning of New Year's Eve, the rest of the week will be cloudy with sunny intervals

Wigan

Light rain expected on Tuesday and Wednesday morning, becoming cloudy later in the day. Light snow is expected on the morning of New Year's Eve. The rest of the week will be cloudy with sunny intervals

Forecast for the north west for the week ahead:

Today:

After a frosty start, southernmost parts may see some wintry showers early on, these quickly clearing south leaving largely dry conditions. Further patchy showers are possible for eastern areas through the afternoon. Feeling cold. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Tonight:

The evening is likely to bring scattered, wintry showers to eastern parts, continuing overnight, while the west remains largely dry. Clear skies overnight will bring widespread frost and icy patches. Minimum temperature -2 °C.

Tuesday:

After a frosty start with some icy patches, it will be a dry day for most, with sunny spells throughout. Remaining cold, with further frost likely overnight. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Wednesday and Thursday will see further showers, heavy and wintry at times, especially along coasts. Drier for New Years' Day. Feeling cold, with further overnight patches of frost and ice.
