'The way forward' - Nottingham Forest fans all saying the same thing after FA Cup win

Nottingham Forest fans have been reacting to their team’s FA Cup victory over Cardiff City this afternoon, with many hailing the defensive performance of centre-backs Joe Worrall and Scott McKenna.

Lyle Taylor’s early goal clinched a 1-0 triumph for the Reds at the City Ground, sending them through to the fourth round.

And it made it six games unbeaten in all competitions for Chris Hughton’s side, as well as back-to-back wins, following last weekend’s result by the same scoreline at Preston North End in the league.

Boss Hughton rung the changes against the Bluebirds, making eight in total from the side which started at Deepdale last weekend.

Jordan Smith, Carl Jenkinson, McKenna, Gaetan Bong, Harry Arter, Joe Lolley, Miguel Angel Guerrero and Taylor all came into the XI.

Brice Samba, Cyrus Christie, Tobias Figueiredo, Yuri Ribeiro, Ryan Yates, Samba Sow, Anthony Knockaert and Lewis Grabban were the players to miss out, as the manager made use of his squad.

Here’s what supporters have been saying about the result and performance.

The hosts made a flying start, with Taylor opening the scoring in the third minute.

Bong was the architect, as he exploited space in behind and put in a good low cross for Taylor to volley home from eight yards.

Forest were aggrieved in the 13th minute, when Arter cleared and felt he had been stamped on but nothing was given.

Cardiff had chances to get back into it, with Smith forcing Josh Murphy wide when he was in, while Murphy also got in again but a low cross flashed through the six-yard box.

The visitors started the second half the better and went close when Harry Wilson's free-kick was deflected into the side-netting.

Although the Bluebirds were the better side after the break, they were unable to test Smith too much, aside from long range efforts from Will Vaulks and Joe Ralls.

Forest's attacking threat was severely limited, with Alex Mighten a bright spot off the bench as he had their only effort on target of the half.
