The Waterboys announce Newcastle date on upcoming tour with tickets on sale now

Indie rockers The Waterboys are to play Newcastle this autumn, it has been announced, as one of seven dates on an upcoming tour.

The band, who have been rocking the music scene for the past 40 years, will play City Hall in Newcastle in October and tickets are on sale now. Led by Scottish musician and songwriter Mike Scott, who formed The Waterboys in London in 1983, the band are best known for the likes of the 1985 anthemic The Whole Of The Moon which also featured in last year's hit Netflix film Let It Snow as well as HBO series The Affair.

Over the years their music has been through different phases, continuing to keep fans on their toes.. Their songs also have been performed by a variety of artists, including Prince, The Killers, U2 and Fiona Apple who have all performed classic The Whole Of The Moon and Ellie Goulding who had a top three hit with How Long Will I Love You.

The Waterboys will play the 02 City Hall on October 7. Their other announced tour dates are Sands Centre in Carlisle on October 1; Bonus Arena in Hull on October 8; the City Hall in Sheffield on October 9; The Anvil, Basingstoke, on October 24; Hall For Cornwall in Truro on October 25 and Pavilion Theatre in Bournemouth on October 26.
