The Warriors’ win probability chart after blowing a 31-point lead to Clippers is wild

We have a possible entry into the win probability chart Hall of Fame.

The Golden State Warriors were up by as much as 31 points on the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 2 of their first round matchup in the 2019 playoffs. The Dubs ended up losing by four and ignited a whole bunch of “the Warriors blew a 31-point lead” jokes and memes.

Squandering that lead meant that the win probability chart from the game showed the Warriors all but running away with the win until the Clippers chipped away. And just like the charts we’ve seen from the Miami Dolphins’ multiple-lateral play to beat the New England Patriots in December, or the Pats’ 28-3 comeback in Super Bowl LI, this one is wild:

That’s right, the Warriors had a 99.9 percent chance of winning until they didn’t, and suddenly the graph falls off a cliff toward the Clips.

Whoa.
