The Wanted star Tom Parker burst into tears as he held newborn son Bodhi after rollercoaster year

It has been a rollercoaster year for The Wanted singer Tom Parker and wife Kelsey.

Earlier this year, the couple - who have been married for two years and have a daughter, Aurelia - joyfully announced that they were expecting their second child.

But heartbreak soon followed as they revealed the devastating news of Tom's incurable brain tumour diagnosis.

Sharing their life-changing year with OK Magazine, the couple again let fans and followers into their lives to welcome their newborn son, Bodhi, into the world.

Speaking exclusively to OK!, Bolton-born star Tom described how he was overcome with emotion when Bodhi finally made his big appearance and he got to hold his son in his arms for the very first time.

“It was so nice. I cried my eyes out!” he said.

Proud mum Kelsey added: “Tom’s emotional anyway, and I’m the harder one.

"But I was so overwhelmed when he was born, because it happened so quickly.

"When the baby’s on you, you’re like, ‘I can’t believe it!’ We were all crying.”

Kelsey described Bodhi as 'the perfect baby', adding: "I barely even know I’ve got him.”

Tom said: “He’s so chilled.

"He’s so different to Aurelia – she was always very active.”

The couple also explained the special meaning behind their name choice for their son.

“Bodhi means enlightenment so it just goes perfectly with our situation right now," said Kelsey.

"He’s the light at the end of our tunnel."

But unlike Kelsey, who was certain the name from the start, Tom was unsure about the name at first.

"Tom didn’t want the name. I said, ‘Tom, I don’t care what you say – we’re having Bodhi and that’s it,’” Kelsey said.

Recalling the night she went into labour, Kelsey revealed that her waters broke during an episode of The Only Way is Essex.

“Bodhi’s labour started during TOWIE," she said.

"At 10pm my waters broke and then nothing happened.

"I rang my mum and she said, 'Get some sleep, then ring me.' I rang her at 7am and said, 'Nothing’s happened.'

"I rang the midwife, they came and checked me because I really wanted a home birth, but there was no sign of the baby.

“[But] when I gave birth it all happened quite quickly – my birth time was 30 minutes!”

Despite COVID restrictions, Tom was able to be by Kelsey's side throughout the entire labour.

“The NHS was absolutely amazing," she said.

"He was there the whole time. They even allowed him to stay over the night!"

The couple also opened up about Tom's treatment. You can read their full exclusive interview with OK! here.
