The Wanted star Max George has revealed he is back in hospital, just months after undergoing a second heart operation.

The 37-year-old singer posted a photo from A&E on Instagram, wearing a hospital gown and lying in bed with a cannula in his hand. He captioned the snap to his 388,000 followers: “Tin man needed a bit of oil before tour. Next stop… USA!!!🇺🇸.”

George later shared another picture from the ward in which he swapped his gown for a black T-shirt, joking: “Think I prefer the PJs...”

It is unclear exactly why he was in hospital.

Concerned fans rushed to send messages of support, with one writing: “Sending love,” while another added: “Take care of yourself buddy.” Others wished him a speedy recovery and said they hoped he would be back on stage soon.

Earlier this year, the former Strictly Come Dancing contestant revealed he had been forced to undergo a second secret operation after pacemaker wires were inserted too deeply into his heart. Photos shared at the time showed his chest stitched back together and him recovering in bed.

He explained: *“A few weeks ago I had to go back into hospital after having some physical symptoms in my chest. It turned out that one of the leads was placed too far into my heart.

“The second surgery took about two hours. Luckily, it was a success and they kindly let me listen to Oasis the whole time!

“It can take a few weeks or months for the inflammation of my heart to subside (myocarditis) but I’m sure I’ll be back on top form in no time.”*

George previously revealed doctors had warned he might never sing again after also undergoing a lung biopsy during his health battle. The ordeal left him in pain for weeks and raised fears over his career.

Despite the setbacks, the singer insisted he is focused on recovery ahead of joining fellow bandmate Siva Kaneswaran for a series of shows — a slimmed-down version of the group dubbed The Wanted 2.0. The pair are expected to perform both classic hits and new material when they hit the road later this year.
