The Wall Street Journal reports (subscription) today that a Beijing based start-up has developed a technology that does "everything that the current approved 3G standards do but a fraction of the cost to mobile operators". It promises six times more capacity for voice or data calls using the same amount of spectrum. The company has already pulled in $27m in venture funding from the usual suspects. Sounds familiar?
