The Wales rugby team just arrived at training and 15,000 people were there to meet them amid remarkable scenes

This was the remarkable scene that greeted the Wales rugby team as they arrived at the Mikuni Stadium in Kitakyushu for an open training session.

Thousands of people turned up to queue outside the stadium up to three hours before it was due to begin on Monday.

Several queues formed, with one of them estimated to be a kilometre long.

Wales star George North shared this video on social media as the team arrived, with a seemingly never-ending queue of locals snaking along the streets.

The Welsh team are holding a two-hour session, during which they are also expected to meet and greet some of the 15,000 fans. You can follow it live here.

It's the latest development in the remarkable welcome Wales have received since arriving in Japan.

Hundreds of local school children were there to greet the team as they arrived at the airport chanting ‘Go Go Cymru!’ on the weekend, and some airport workers put Wales jerseys over their uniforms.

The Wales team choir will perform Calon Lan and Lawr ar Lan y Môr at their official welcoming ceremony later today (around 11.30am UK time).

The squad have been practicing for weeks, even calling on the help of Welsh opera legend Bryn Terfel.
