The Voice UK's Janel makes brave return after 'disaster' audition broke her heart two years earlier

A brave contestant returned to The Voice UK after being dealt a crushing blow two years earlier when disaster struck in her audition.

Janel Antoneshia, 27, was the final act to step onto the stage in the latest round of Blind Auditions which aired on Saturday night.

And before she'd even sung a line for coaches Will.I.Am, Tom Jones, Olly Murs and Anne- Marie, the Dudley singer revealed that it wasn't her first time in The Voice studio.

Speaking to the camera she said: "I auditioned in 2018 but I didn't give my best. I hit a really nasty note.

"When I heard it back I cringed."

Admitting she was left in tears by the setback, Janel added: "In my head that was it but then I thought what do you have to lose?

"I'm going out there and making it count. This is my opportunity to prove what I can do."

Thankfully for Janel, things went a LOT better this time round with both Will and Olly turning for her, with Will praising her "very unique voice."

Telling them about her failed audition, Janel explained: "I was here in 2018, no-one turned round and it really broke my heart.

"I was like 'I'm never coming back on this show as I can't deal with the heartbreak.'

"I hit the most disgusting note you could think of. Olly made a face! I know I messed up."

Left with the choice of joining Team Will or Team Olly, Janel went for Will, telling him she wanted to "bring some spice" to his lineup.
