The Voice UK coaches were criticised on social media on the first episode of the series on Saturday night.
Tom Jones, will.i.am, Olly Murs and Anne-Marie, who replaced Meghan Trainor, all listen to singers with their backs turned and they press the button to turn around if they wish to mentor the singer through the competition.
They only have until the performance ends - and it was excruciating to watch as Drew Thomas sang his heart out, but none of the coaches turned around for him.
Looking disappointed, Drew walked off the stage while the coaches remained sitting with their backs to him.
But what made it worse was that all four coaches instantly regretted not turning and felt incredibly guilty.
They all said they wished they had turned, angering fans who asked why they would be so picky this early on in the competition.
"I feel like we should have turned, you know, we made a mistake there," said Anne-Marie.
"I think we have let a really good singer go there, that was a great performance," agreed Olly.
"I would be gutted if I was backstage now, if you are watching this now, whoever you are, you should be really proud of yourself, we are really sorry we didn't press our buttons," he added.
One viewer tweeted: "Drew deserved that chair so much wtaf".
"Oh no I'm surprised at that one. Drew has a great voice. They should of turned for him," wrote another.
"Guy with the keyboard was best of the night , shameful not to get a turn !!!" complained a third.
