The Voice UK contestant serenades care home

A former Voice UK contender has serenaded residents at a Belfast care home.

Northern Ireland singer-songwriter David Jackson sang 4 Non-Blondes' chart topper "What's Up" in an outdoor show at Clifton Nursing Home today.

Organiser Meghan Mcgreevy said the performance brought joy to the home's residents who had gone weeks without visitors because of Covid-19.

She's already planning more line ups at other care homes and has had offers from the Irish School of Music to perform.

She added: "They [residents] have no visitors or anything, it’s just something to bring a wee bit of life to everybody.

"It was just fabulous - it was lovely to see everybody dancing and laughing and outside.

"He [Jackson] loved it and he said he would do another one."

She and her mum are also making scrubs for frontline workers, with material donated by Belfast 's Mad About Fabrics.

So far they've made about 100.

Now she's combining the two.

She added: "I reach out to the nursing homes and ask them if they are need of any scrubs and would they like any live music."
