The Voice's Olly Murs blown away by "amazing" Newcastle teenager Leah Cobb

Olly Murs was left blown away by the performance of a Newcastle teenager as she tried out for The Voice UK in superb style on Saturday night.

Leah Cobb, 16, arrived at The Voice Blind Auditions with mam and dad Donna and Steve in tow and, in her VT, admitted that while she'd "always been a bedroom singer," it was her parents who really gave the confidence boost to really pursue her singing, with them regularly enjoying family karaoke sessions in the kitchen during lockdown.

Steve said: "She's always singing in her bedroom, in the shower, in the bath; she's quite constant!

"We think she's got something unique."

Donna added: "She's going to get up there in front of all those people and it's my little girl."

Steve and Donna had good reason to be immensely proud of their daughter as Leah fired on all cylinders with her version of Elle King's Ex's and Ohs, which former X Factor finalist Olly was quick to turn for.

After she finished and landed a spot on his team, the Essex singer told Leah: "That was an amazing performance! I'm shocked I'm the only person who turned. You are unbelievable.

"When I turned and saw the confidence you have, the tone of your voice, the character - you really sold the sold song to me - it was just a great audition."

While he didn't turn, fellow coach Sir Tom Jones was also full of praise, telling Leah he really enjoyed her performance, while Anne-Marie said she was glad Olly turned.
