The Voice Kids UK: Northern Ireland schoolboy sings his way to show final

A Derry schoolboy has sang his way to the final of The Voice Kids UK after a stunning performance on last night's show.

Dara McNicholl, 13, from Moneyneany was chosen to go through to the final with mentor Paloma Faith after his rendition of Sinéad O'Connor's 'Nothing Compares 2 U'.

"My granny likes the song, my da likes it too. All Irish people know this song, so there's no pressure there like," joked Dara before the show.

Paloma Faith said: "Dara has no idea how exceptional he is. I love the fact that his voice doesn't really match his appearance. And then he opens his mouth and it's just like [wow].

"He has this amazing talent that's technical but is so sensitive and that feeds into the way he sings because it's just pure beauty."

  • The Voice Kids will air the final show on Saturday August 29 on ITV at 7.25pm
