The Voice Kids contestant Conor Marcus set for stardom after impressing the judges

The Voice Kids’ contestant Conor Marcus is set for stardom after impressing the judges on Saturday's show.

He’s the first musician ever allowed to perform his own song on the hit series.

From the thousands of applicants for the show, Conor from Loughinisland in County Down has made it to the Blind auditions.

A senior producer from the show said: “We’ve been waiting for the right song to come along and Conor’s song is a Banger!”

Conor, 14, told the Irish Mirror: “I’ve been writing songs since I was nine and released my first EP “Maybe Sometime Soon” at the Belnash Singer/Songwriter’s Festival in Belfast in March.

“I’ve done loads of busking and support gigs and even a few festivals, but to get to perform my song on ITV to millions of viewers is just amazing.”

Conor recently performed at the Harmony Festival in Holywood and will be playing at the Dalriada Festival in July.

Proud dad Jo said: “He started writing music when he was nine and started playing the guitar when he was 12.

“We have never been prouder.”
