Guy Sebastian Dispels Rumours That He Quit The Voice Over Feud With Kate Miller-Heidke

The Voice Australia 2025 is SLUMPING against The Block this season and industry insiders say Channel Seven’s big fix could be one man: Guy Sebastian.

Viewers have been roasting the show on social media, saying it just hasn’t hit the same level since Guy bailed on that iconic red chair.

“The ratings against The Block aren’t where the network needs the show to be,” one TV insider told PEDESTRIAN.TV. “And the feedback Seven keeps getting is simple: viewers want Guy Sebastian back.”

When Guy first joined the panel, it was a bit of a controversial pick. But over time, the Aussie Idol winner turned pop powerhouse became one of the show’s most respected coaches, bringing actual music industry cred to a reality format that’s usually heavy on gimmicks.

But there’s one hitch: our source is alleging that he doesn’t want to sit alongside Kate Miller-Heidke again.

“It’s no secret his relationship with Kate was strained,” the insider alleged. “He’s open to returning with Richard Marx, Mel C and Ronan Keating, just not Kate.”

However, the beloved singer has since dismissed these rumours, telling PEDESTRIAN.TV he has “never had anything but love for Kate”.

“All I’ll say is that these rumoured sources are always so weird to me and they couldn’t be any further from the truth,” Sebastian told P.TV.

“I’ve never had anything but love for Kate. I met her when she first got signed and became a fan when I heard her first unreleased demo EP. We have always been mates when we’ve bumped into each other and musically/creatively/vocally, I think she’s a weapon.”

The “Battle Scars” singer went on to say that his time on The Voice was “one of the nicest TV experiences” and that he only took a break from the show to focus on finishing “the album, travel”, and to “free up [his] schedule”.

“I would absolutely return if I was in the right headspace, but next year I’m touring pretty much the whole year and I’ve got a bit of rehab and stuff to get fit and ready for it, so that’s the focus for now,” the singer added.

Kate’s copped flak for claims she is “too much” on the panel, while Guy’s mentoring is seen as the missing ingredient Seven needs to compete with The Block’s juggernaut ratings.

Earlier this season, another insider alleged that there is brewing drama on the show between Kate and Richard that has reportedly left the American singer “rattled”.

Seven’s insider claimed that the 61-year-old “walked off on Kate multiple times” after a heated clash among the judges.

Keith Urban’s advice to Richard was to never fight with the other coaches,” the insider told us exclusively. “So when things got heated, he just left the room instead.”

Apparently Richard had “heard wonderful things about her and genuinely admired her music” so he was “shocked” when things allegedly turned sour.

By the end of the blind auditions, the tension was, according to the source, on another level.

Insiders claimed The Voice Australia producers would have to fight to get the international trio back.

“Richard in particular was rattled,” the insider added. “This isn’t the Richard Marx he wanted Australian viewers to see.”

PTV is not suggesting it is true that Kate Miller-Heidke has caused tension on the panel, just that insiders have alleged this. She has been contacted for comment in relation to the allegations.

So, could a Guy comeback be the jolt that saves The Voice Australia in 2026? If social media’s anything to go by, fans have already decided.

“He can replace Kate Miller-Heidke, thank you,” one fan wrote on Facebook.

“Bring him back and say see ya to Kate,” another wrote.

“Let him replace Kate!” a third fan chimed in.
